Cam-A-Lot Rentals now has a webcam hire offering, the Link UHD 4K AI Webcam from Insta360, that solves the issues of poor image quality found in traditional webcams. It has resolution settings adjustable from HD to UHD and despite being a tiny unit it has a ½” sensor for sharp images with great highlight and shadow balance. Even an HDR mode is supported in 1080p and 720p resolutions, balancing the highlights and shadows in your image and ensuring the background isn't blown out.

This camera is plug and play and will be recognized by any streaming service as a selectable source. However, if you install the software, you get amazing AI functionality and the PTZ head really starts to shine. The camera can lock onto the presenter and follow them so they stay in shot as they move around, with the option to choose if the framing is close, medium of full length. The Link's 3-axis gimbal design and embedded AI tracking facilitates automatic zooming, framing, and lens rotation to follow your every movement.

The True focus with Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) as well as the auto exposure technology adjust faster for an optimized image to keep it looking great. Unlike other cameras you get a lot of control and can switch off functions you don’t want. There are not many webcams offering the option to control focus manually for example.

The Insta360 Link webcam can sit on top of your monitor or attach to a stand via the universal ¼” thread underneath. This allows you to mount the camera several different ways. Which is especially useful for another amazing feature, top-down shooting. Two modes are available, DeskView or Overhead. DeskView Mode: mount the camera to computer using built-in clip. Tap DeskView, and let it automatically adjust to your tabletop by tilting down. This is great for showing what you are working on or demonstrating without the need for a second camera. The camera can even correct for the distortion of it not being a truly top down view. Overhead Mode allows you to capture a bird's eye view when the camera is mounted to a stand allowing for straight down capture.

Having a PTZ head also affords the ability to set up many different shots in the software and assign those positions. Simply click an assigned position and the camera will jump to that pre-configured shot. You can also control the camera to activate functionality through Gesture controls. Gesture controls allow you to manage calls, zoom, and toggle modes. Simply hold your palm towards the camera to start AI tracking, create an L-shape to engage zoom, or hold up a peace sign for Whiteboard Mode. Whiteboard Mode: focuses and squares off whiteboard to give audience clearer view during presentations. It is also possible to use Portrait Mode for creating content for mobile phones. It shoots in uncropped 9:16 aspect ratio by rotating gimbal head for matching images optimized for mobile viewing.

Easy setup with plug-and-play capabilities as you can link directly onto your laptop or desktop computer via a USB cable. Once the camera is inactive for 10 seconds, the gimbal-style lens automatically points downwards putting you into privacy mode. Dual noise-cancelling microphones reduce background noise with automatic gain control and de-reverberation to amplify voice.
